Tiny Purse - Big Statement

I’ll start by saying that I’ve never been a purse girl. Like, NEVER. Slinging something heavy over my shoulder only to run the risk of losing or leaving it the first time I take it outside my house just did NOT sound appealing. But there’s something about the y2k tiny purse trend that passes any vibe check thrown its way. I’m completely obsessed with these little purses. Do they fit anything more than a phone, wallet, and lip balm (plus that bath and body works hand sanitizer you bought in 7th grade that you’re finally getting use out of...shoutout to corona)? Maybe not. But what they lack in size they make up for in the way they can elevate any outfit. Because sharing is certainly caring, here are some of my favorite looks featuring a tiny purse and the best places to find one to add to your closet.

In the age of corona, I find myself in sweats more than anything else. In fact, I’ve gotten SO used to them that they’re my go-to now when I leave the house. I know I can’t be alone in this, so one of the best ways to dress up sweats? A tiny purse. My current fav combo is baggy sweats and a tank, so pair that with a mini purse and I’m in heaven. This cute alligator faux leather purse is from Amazon. It comes in baby blue and white, and the chain strap is so cool I can’t get over it. The perfect size for my phone, wallet, and mask. What more could anyone want?

Mini purses are versatile, so not only do they work with sweats, but formal looks as well. Blazers are super big right now (as they should be). Another one of my favorite looks? Blazer plus a tiny purse. Perfect for anything from a night in the city to becoming the CEO of a company, this fall staple piece, a statement belt, and a mini purse to match...10/10. I got this purse (below) from The Garment District, a thrift store in Cambridge. Thrifting is such a good way to find a purse that no one else will have, and for a student on a budget, it’s even better. The metallic silver is so fun, I’d highly recommend looking for material that pops or stands out. This one is on the bigger side so lots of room for the necessities of any night out, but still small enough to tuck under your arm without it feeling bulky. Some of my other favorite places to thrift purses? Buffalo Exchange and Boomerangs (which works in partnership with AIDS Action in Mass, so not only is it not fast fashion, you’re donating to a good cause as well.)

Finally, a mini purse can turn any basic fit into one that you would save to your Pinterest board. This simple outfit, a sweater made for a New England fall and a cute pair of mint jeans, was perfect for this cow print purse. I’m absolutely living for cow print right now, and throwing it on top of a tiny purse was something out of a dream for me. She’s a little small, really can just fit a phone and a pair of cute sunglasses, but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, what more could you want? I got this one from Frasier Sterling. They’ve got crocodile and snake print too, so depending on your vibe, there’s something for everyone.
