Spring into Summer

It’s that time of year again– the weather is finally starting to warm up, the flowers are blossoming, the grass is looking greener, and the inevitable changing of seasons is upon us. Before we know it, summertime in Boston will be here once again. With the changing seasons of course comes the changing of wardrobes. So how do you dress at this time of year, transitioning your wardrobe from the spring to summer days? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. From layering staples to footwear magic, below is a list of 10 ideas on how to dress as we prepare for summer once again. And, if you need specific inspiration, I’ve included a few links to some of my favorites :)

1. Linen Blazers

The classic linen blazer is the moment right now. Whether you want to dress it up with matching linen pants, or go for a more casual look with a pair of jeans, investing in this piece is the perfect transition item for the weather slowly getting warmer. And, it is great for layering!

My picks:

Blake Linen Blazer

James Linen Blazer

2. Button Downs

One of the most chic looks for a classic spring to summer transition is a button down– and there are endless options. From blue and white hairline stripes to classic pastel shades, finding the perfect button down for you is made so easy. It’s light, but will surely keep you warm for those days that fall just under 70 degrees!

My picks:

Rails Wren Shirt

Poplin Easy Y-Neck Button-Up Shirt

3. Espadrilles

One of my biggest challenges in dressing for warmer weather was to let go of the winter boots that I love so dearly– but do not fear because spring and summer fashion brings about the coolest footwear. It’s still slightly early for open-toed sandals, but the perfect shoe I would opt for right now is an espadrille. They are a classic and have a wide range of different designs and color schemes. Worn with a pair of jeans or your favorite skirt, they are the perfect shoe for a spring to summer transition.

My picks:

Kampala Frayed Canvas Cap-Toe Espadrilles

Maeve Mary Jane Espadrille Flats

4. Cable Knits

The perfect spring sweater is none other than a cable knit. These are a personal go-to for layering on those days that start slightly colder, but by noon it feels you are in Florida with the heat. Paired with a cute tank or tee underneath and a linen pant or jean, this is the perfect way to prepare for the summer.

My picks:

Garnet and Navy Stripe Metallic Morrissey Sweater

Edolie Cardi

5. Graphic tanks and tees

If you are looking for some layering staples, I have been loving all things graphic tees and tanks. They are the perfect pair to a linen blazer or cable knit from above, and make for such a fun addition to any outfit. Rather than wearing a plain tank when layering, a graphic tee will make this transition period that much better – get a graphic of your favorite summer fruit, a summer concert band, some florals, or something coastal to really ring in this warm weather.

My picks:

Fleetwood Mac Rumors Tee

Peach Relaxed T-shirt

6. Midi Skirts

Spring would not be spring without the perfect midi skirt. These single handedly get me through this time of year– I love to pair them with a tank and cardigan, flowy blouse, sneakers, or espadrilles! If you are looking for a fun way to spice up your spring/summer wardrobe, try out a fun pattern like a floral or polka dot. If you are looking for your next night-out outfit, pair it with a cropped tank and chunky jewelry. The perfect staple!

7. Bubble Hem Blouses

Looking to dress up for class or shopping around with friends? A bubble hem blouse is the perfect way to dress up a pair of jeans. They have been making strides in the fashion industry, and I am so here for it! With a lot of versatility you will surely be able to find one just right for you!

8. Maxi Dresses

A maxi dress is the ultimate dinner or night-out look for the spring and summer. There’s strapless, long-sleeve, off-the-shoulder, and so much more! Pair it with a kitten heel for that warm night or with your favorite sneaker for a more relaxed look. This will be sure to take you right into summer.

My picks:

9. Chunky Necklaces

The best way to spice up any outfit during warmer weather is with some fun statement jewelry, and luckily, we have chunky necklaces for just the trick. Whether you want one or five around your neck, these are the perfect way to elevate any outfit. And, the best part is, they look great going to class or to the beach!

My picks:

Open Circle Statement Necklace

X Revolve Puffy Heart Chain Necklace

10. White on White

Last but not least, the most perfect transition to gear up for the summer is to pull out those whites that have been in your closet since last year’s Labor Day. And not just the white pants– nothing screams warm more than a classic white on white look. Grab a pair of white jeans and a white button down, or some linens with an oversized white tee! If it’s too daunting, break it up with some fun accessories (I love a brown belt with an all white look)!

Brynn Drawstring Trouser

Hepburn Wide Leg High Rise 32" Jeans
