Boho Chic: A Timeless Statement Style

As a born and raised Californian, with the most free-spirited hippie mother, boho chic has been integral in my own style and identity for as long as I can remember. From making my own feather earrings, to curating clothes with long flowy silhouettes and crochet pieces, the boho chic style is not just my own personal favorite – it is timeless.

With media such as Daisy Jones and the Six and Outer Banks, boho chic has been a consistent trend that has stood the test of time. Let's take a look at its recent history.

We all know where boho chic stems from- think 70s cool girl meets Stevie Nicks meets Free People. From icons like Stevie Nicks to Coachella Queen Vanessa Hudgens, boho chic has lasted through the years. Let's go through her impact from the 2000s to now.

90s - 2000s

When I first think of boho chic, it's hard to ignore the 90s icon Miss Phoebe Buffay from the hit TV show Friends. With her fusion of eclectic pieces and celestial witch clothes, she was a consistent boho chic queen and proud hippie.

And how could we forget the one and only Almost Famous—sure, it was set in the 70s, but its style has remained timeless. Penny Lane’s long fur coats and bell bottoms have been consistent pieces in lots of wardrobes, or at least mine.

2010s

You can’t mention boho chic without mentioning the impact of Coachella, especially in the 2010s. Celebs like Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens donned lace applique tops, fun jewelry, feathers, and tassels. Their style reflected the gradual evolution of the boho chic style.

2020s - Present

While all these style icons are timeless, 2025 has a fresh take on boho chic. Staying tried and true to the lace, crochet, and flares of the past, 2025 offers an elevated look for boho chic.

Perhaps it's because I grew up with the proudest boho, hippie mother, or maybe because I have an obsession with Fleetwood Mac, but I think it’s safe to say that boho chic has always been back, and it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. And personally, I am going to wear long fur trimmed coats and long flowy skirts as long as I live and breathe.
