Let’s Talk Fall Trends…Four Fall 2024 Trends Not to Miss!

With the September equinox just behind us, autumn is underway. Out with the sandals, out with the flip flops, and in with the boots. As we get wrapped up in fall, let's talk about some of this season's most noticeable trends. Whether you find them chic or cheesy, they are undeniably hot and in.

1. Suede

Madewell, The Kline Blazer

First, my favorite is suede. This lovely material is making quite the comeback this fall, creating competition for classic leather and jean jackets, bags, shoes, and more. I believe the warm appearance sets suede apart from leather and jeans. It's the kind of material with rhetoric that screams a brisk fall day. More specifically, brown suede is consuming the internet at the moment. Alongside suede has been an influx of fringe onto jackets, bags, and more, something we saw a bit of in spring 2024. Fringe, too, seems to be here to stay for this fall, and it pairs quite perfectly with suede. Personally, I am loving this fall trend, and I am itching to get more suede into my closet this fall. Many brands are embracing this trend, but some I recommend for jackets are Vince, Zara, Veronica Beard, Madewell (pictured to the left), and Ralph Lauren. Additionally, I'm loving suede shoes from Steve Madden and Jeffery Campbell, and suede bags from Clare V., J.Crew, and J.McLaughlin.

2. Pointed-toe Shoes

Ann Taylor, Mini Bow Slingback Patent Pump

Another trend making quite some noise on social media is pointed-toe heels and flats, my second favorite. These began to creep back into fashion’s focus last year; however, now they really seem to be making their mark on fall 2024 fashion. Some pointed-toed shoes have been making use of bows, which I would assume draws inspiration from the infamous ballet flat and bow combo. Shoes like these are a great staple to have in your wardrobe. They can elevate practically any outfit, giving it a professional and classy look. I have seen these shoes most commonly made in leather, patent, or suede, and often are maroon, red, cream, or black. I’m personally in favor of the maroon and black look. Pointed-toe shoes can be found virtually everywhere, but I recommend Vince Camuto, Steve Madden, Ann Taylor (pictured), Sam Edelman, Nine West, Dolce Vita, Franco Sarto, and Jeffery Campbell.

3. Animal Print

Marc Jacobs, The Zebra Haircalf Mini Dual Bag

Next up, we have a no-doubt fan favorite: animal print. This is not to say that animal print hasn't been creeping back into fashion in the past few years, but its trend is much more present now. Animal print couture is surely sweeping through the fashion industry as we speak. It is being used as a staple to outfits, bringing a fun pattern and vibe to even the most simple looks. It's also being mixed with classic, preppy styles, contrasting between serious and spunky. Personally, I am very much enjoying this trend. It's not only adorable but also very easily accessible due to its iconic popularity. I recommend Marc Jacobs (pictured to the left), Staud, Dolce Vita, and Jacquemus for bags. For clothing, I think J.Crew, Zara, Reformation, Revolve, and Dolce & Gabbana have some great options. Finally, I recommend Margaux, Dolce Vita, Jeffery Campbell, Veronica Beard, and Franco Sarto for shoes.

Abercrombie & Fitch, The A&F Paloma Mesh Top

4. Mesh
Lastly, the most interesting new obsession in the industry, in my opinion, is mesh. Mesh can be seen in virtually every store in one form or another. While some meshes are only partly see-through, others completely reveal what's on the other side. In my opinion, the most flattering uses of mesh are in shoes and tops. Mesh shoes are overwhelming social media and are all the rage at the moment. My favorite mesh shoe look is the ballet flat, which you can find from most shoe brands, although I recommend Sam Edelman, Dolce Vita, or Steve Madden. Mesh tops can be found practically anywhere and everywhere, including Abercrombie & Fitch (pictured to the right) and Zara, which have some of my favorites.

These trends, some questionable, some widely accepted, are some of Fall 2024’s most notable trends.

Will you sport them?
