Five Men’s Winter ‘23 Trends to Try

We get it, with gigantic puffers or blocky snow boots, it feels almost impossible to feel fashionable. At the escape of finals’ grasps and the seemingly never-ending cycle of deadlines, it may seem tempting to submit to the comfort of sweats and tees, but we here at the Boston College Fashion Club aim to provide a myriad of men’s fashion trends to explore this winter season. From shoulder-to-floor top coats to wrap-around accessories, this season will have you dripped out… if not from fits, then from snow.

This season, houses seemed to dominate the runway with subtle hues, straying from bold, lively colors. Consequently, designers leaned into patterns, materials, and silhouettes to achieve life and interest. As grungecore slowly injected itself into many shows, so too did preppy styles and classic tailoring. Whatever style you lean into, a runway reflected what you like and took it to (hot)-couture levels, ensuring you feel the heat in an otherwise icy season.

Top-Up in Top Coats

Why keep just your torso warm when you can spread the love to your legs? After all, it is the season of giving. Accentuating the body’s silhouette and creating a tall, slim look, a top coat is an easy way to achieve a chic look while staying warm. Opt for lighter tones like beige or taupe to contrast with darker pieces like boots, belts, or ties, or embrace your villain era with a midnight-black top coat to serve a cold appearance.

Dare to Mohair?

Don’t fall flat on the ice with a dull, flat scarf. This season, instead reach for that fluffy, soft scarf that really keeps you warm, might I suggest mohair? Opt for unique patterns and striking color, it’ll be sure to call attention to your face! Creating a striking silhouette and allowing your neck to feel the warm and fuzzies, mohair will most definitely up your winter style.

Sweater Weather

The Neighborhood isn’t the only one rocking with sweater weather, so can you! This holiday season, please ditch the ugly sweaters and opt for a statement sweater. Cable knit, cashmere, cotton blend, oh my! With so many options, be sure to choose thicker knits, or wear it as a base layer to complement any coat. Tucked in or oversized, sweaters are for sure a versatile staple for any occasion.

Holy, Cow… Boy Boot!

Santa can’t be the only one to “boots the house down” this holiday season. Tread through the snow with style this year with a hint of Western sophistication, because, how better to keep your feet toasty with some Western warmth? Pierce through snow-boot silhouettes with a pointy toe and be sure to tip your hat to the future of your style reformation.

Plunge into the Grunge

Take the floor with grungecore. Big jeans long enough to conceal shoes? Check. Retro cropped jacket to show off inner layers? Check. Why worry about the cold when you look oh, so hot? Complete the look with chunky boots, ripped, worn tops, layer to the max, and adorn yourself with icy jewelry. You'll be sure to step out looking like a Harley Davidson model.
