Finally, Fall: The Best Time to Dress
When I stepped outside on Tuesday morning and finally felt the crisp, New England fall air, I practically jumped for joy. Not from the thought of pumpkin spice, football, or even changing leaves – but because of all of the wonderful outfits the season holds. Fall is the best season to dress for, and I am going to tell you exactly why.
1) The Art of Layers
In the summertime, getting dressed can often result in a sacrifice between an amazing outfit and a regulated temperature. Winter, on the other hand, unfortunately conceals a beautiful look behind ten layers of down. So, I present to you the perfect medium: Fall. Fall weather lets you throw on a blazer with your favorite basic T-shirt, toss a jacket over a flowy fall dress, or pop on a sweater without the coverage of a disgustingly large puffer. Layering lets you take more risks in your fashion sense – you can pair more items together beyond a simple top and pants or a dress and sandals. A romantic button-down can meet a jacket, which can be paired with an incredible Kujten scarf and your favorite denim, creating a nuanced, stylish look. Layers help you explore your fashion taste and add an opportunity to make an outfit more interesting.

2) Texture
In addition to the season encouraging multiple layers, it creates openings to play with texture as well. Fall is the time for materials like suede, fringe, and beaded embroidery to take center stage. I love a full linen outfit as much as the next girl, but by the end of summer I am itching to drench myself in a mix of fringe jackets, leather skirts, and dreamy cashmere tops without dying of heat stroke. Fall texture can turn the most basic T-shirt and jeans into the most fabulous outfit on the block, adding the perfect sense of intentionality to your style. Forget summer linen; I need to see as much suede as possible from here on out.

3) Boots
You can truly implement textures from head to toe. Boots are another reason Fall wins the “season of style.” Tall boots, suede boots, heeled boots, brown boots, black boots – give me all of them! Fall is the perfect time to showcase your collection. Summer-time boot-wearing leads to… calf humidity, and wintertime sludge deems the sidewalks unsafe for the boots we love most. Alas, the style champion, Fall, gives us the perfect weather to sport suede cowgirl boots and heeled knee-highs that are definitely not ice-proof.

4) The Best of Both Wardrobes
You may ask, “What about my dreamy summer tops and my gorgeous winter sweaters?” Never fear. Fall is the season that combines the best features of your wardrobe. Think a suede skirt with a dainty white top, or your favorite sweater with a light silk-taffeta cargo… outfit masterpieces! Instead of building a new wardrobe for this championed season, autumn weather lets you bring new life to pieces you forgot about in your closet. Fall is truly perfect for the non-committal stylist: not for the heat, not for the ice; it’s the perfect in-between.
