Blog Spotlight: @dailyartchives

Highlighting Senior, Sophia Nicoletti’s fashion, art, and lifestyle Instagram blog @dailyartchives. Check out her interview with Clara Elizalde below!

Tell us about your blog or account. What is it called, etc.?

My blog is called @dailyartchives, I post essentially anything that inspires me. That can include fashion--I love fashion, it is a creative outlet for me--and interior design. I’ve always been interested in that. I always scroll on Pinterest saving all these different spaces that I absolutely love. I’ve loved interior design since I was a little kid.

What is your favorite interior design style?

I like a lot of styles. I’m open to any style with good taste. I really liked Mid-Century Modern for a while, but I also like Minimalist design sometimes, or even Maximalism, like English Cottage style with a modern twist for that homey feel. Overall, I like functionality in design and I think that it’s important; I don't like when things are so minimalist that they lack personality.

Where do you go to find unique pieces?

I’m so weird. I love going to antique shops. I spend hours going through them. Sometimes I think interior design is my calling, because I could spend so much time in these stores, picking pieces that look interesting. Wherever I am, like if I’m in a city for a while, I look up thrift shops so I can find really cool clothing, boots, accessories, and bags. I like finding pieces that are really expensive online, but are a fraction of that price in one of these stores.

Why did you create @dailyartchives? Is there anyone that inspired you, like a favorite blogger or celebrity?

I love WeWoreWhat. I love her content and I think it's beautifully done, and every time she posts I am amazed at what she does. The reason why I created my own account is because I felt this itch. I wanted to share everything that inspired me on social media, perhaps because I wanted a portfolio in a way. One day my friend said “you should just create an account,” and I thought “I don’t really care what people think” and I just did it.

Do you have any more people that inspire you for this account?

I follow a bunch of different people. I love Kelly Wearstler, an interior designer, and I think she has great taste. I also like @EyeSwoon, an interior designer and fashion blogger.

Where do you find your inspiration?

I’m always on my @dailyartchives account, scrolling through the curated section they give me because it's so specific. There is always inspiration there because the algorithm seems to know exactly what I'm looking for, like Pinterest, which also inspires me. I also look at coffee table books and magazines like Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, and Elle.

Who is your style icon?

This is hard! My sister had the coolest outfits. She never bought a lot but she always worked with what she had, and had statement pieces that she used in her outfits. I also love Arielle Charnas, who owns Something Navy.

What’s your favorite trend right now?

Lately, I love high-knee boots with a cool dress and a chunky cardigan, a plaid shirt jacket with vibrant colors, romantic-chic flowy ruffles, oversized coats, and flared jeans. I also love how natural hair has made a comeback.

How do you keep your followers engaged?

I think definitely through my content, and by keeping a cohesive feed. When someone clicks on my account, it needs to look like a really awesome mood board. I have an app where I can see how my feed looks altogether. I try to post a lot, a couple times a week, because I honestly love it and I’m always scrolling. Hashtags and tags are also really important!

What are your fashion and beauty must-haves?

You gotta have some good jeans, like straight-legged. My favorites are Mother, Agolde, Zara-- even though they have random sizing sometimes. Then I would say great basics that are elevated in some way, like cool sleeves or fun details, so you always have something interesting on with your jeans. Also, a good pair of white sneakers for every day, and boots for wintertime. I love chunky black boots with cool details or a cute bootie. A white and black chunky cardigan is good for the fall.

For beauty, figure out a routine that works for you. It's easy to fall victim to buying expensive products just because of the packaging, but I have such sensitive skin so that doesn’t really work. It’s possible, but you need to make sure whatever you are using is right for your skin. Find a good face cleanser, moisturizer, and serum. For me, I prefer clean beauty. I really like BITE Beauty--I love their face foundation--and Kosas.

Out of all of your pictures, which is your favorite and why?

I love this dress! I got it at a thrift shop, and I love the sleeves.

Where are your favorite places to shop?

You can’t go wrong with ShopBop, SourceUnknown, and Revolve. I also really love Staud and Ganni! However, these places are definitely expensive so I like looking for brands on Instagram.  You can find a lot of cool stuff, made by small boutiques. I also like Zara, but we definitely have a toxic relationship.

What’s your prediction for the next IT trend?

I think a lot of flowy, airy, dainty ruffles.

What is your advice for someone that wants to start a blog?

I would say to just do it! There is no reason not to. If you have a crazy interest in something, then you should just do it. People admire that. People don’t care as much as you think when you do something bold like that. You can always use it as your portfolio! I’m going to use mine when applying to jobs.
