No Gym? No Problem!
Some of you may have read this title and thought, “Yes. Problem!” You’re not alone. Quarantine is the perfect excuse to not workout because you can’t even go to the gym! BUT, with so much time on our hands, why not get fit? Here are some tips, fitness accounts, and workouts to help you stay motivated without the luxury of our new BC Plex.
If you’re not motivated to workout at home, one of the ways I motivate myself is by going on Instagram! I follow some ~fitness gurus~ and these ladies are absolute goals. I’m not trying to support an unhealthy body image by looking at these profiles, but seeing these women killing the game motivates me to workout too!
My current favorites are @califullerfit and @whitneyysimons. They both offer fitness plans that you can buy online, but their profiles have short workout videos you can watch without the plans! When I need workout motivation I’ll check their profiles and do the exercises with them. You might think that short workouts aren’t effective, especially without the plan, but I can guarantee that your muscles will be burning and you will be feeling amazing. Now that quarantine is an obstacle to everyone’s gym routine, both Cali and Whitney post home workouts that don’t require gym equipment!
My biggest issue without the gym is the lack of cardio machines. I personally don’t like going on runs, and I normally use a treadmill, stair-stepper, elliptical, and/or bike at the gym. I’m lucky that I have an elliptical at home, but some people rely on the gym for that equipment. A great way to get a high heart rate workout without cardio machines is going on a run (not for me) or doing HIIT workouts (Cali and Whitney have some).
With all of this in mind, I am not a fitness guru or an avid gym-goer (at least before quarantine). Now that there is so much time on my hands, I’ve made fitness a priority and I can definitely say that I’m never going back. It’s hard to stay motivated without a foreseeable end to quarantine, but I hope that these tips help you to keep pursuing your fitness goals without the gym!
