2000s Fall Fashion
Out of all of the trends that circulated the internet these past few years, few have caught my eye in the way that 2000s fall fashion has for me this year. With countless Instagram Reels showing off dark wash jeans and Abercrombie babydoll tops, I’ve been getting more and more inspired as the season goes on.
The Top

A babydoll top is the staple of a 2000s fall wardrobe. These tops have been going viral all over Instagram and TikTok, and can be found at either Abercrombie & Fitch or Hollister. However, a lot of people on TikTok aren’t a fan of the new drops that Hollister has, trying to replicate their old designs: the quality is low and the price is high. I wanted to partake in this babydoll top trend, but wanted the real thing, so I headed to Depop, a secondhand app where you can buy the real deal Abercrombie and Hollister tops. I found the perfect Abercrombie top, sent in a few offers, and eventually landed on one. They can be expensive, but if you look long enough, you can find high-quality tops for a fair price.
The Bottoms

Dark wash jeans are another staple of 2000s fashion. This fall, I’ve seen varying styles of jeans come back in style—like bell-bottom jeans with mild flares, and even skinny jeans. If you’re like me and don’t intend to hop on the skinny jeans trend, you can flaunt a pair of dark wash jeans in another style.
My favorite purchase this fall has been a dark wash jean skirt that I found on Depop for $16. I wear the versatile skirt almost every day since it goes with almost everything. With a cute pair of Uggs, a jean skirt can also be a staple in your wardrobe for 2000s fashion.
The Shoes

Like clockwork, Ugg boots make a huge comeback during the fall season. This year, the Ugg trend is as popular as it was in its prime: the 2000s. The Tasmans with red stitching are my personal favorites. The quality of Uggs compensates for their price—walking in Uggs feels like walking on clouds. What better shoe to complete a 2000s fall look?
The Accessories

Two pieces of jewelry that are staples of 2000s fall fashion, as well as staples in my own wardrobe, are big gold hoops and a gold, pendant necklace. Big hoops are whimsical and fun, and they elevate every outfit by a lot. The second piece of jewelry that will contribute to any outfit is a gold, pendant necklace. I have a necklace with a pendant that says “Lover, You Should Have Come Over.” The quote is the title of one of my favorite songs, which adds a personal sentiment to the cute look. I wear it every single day.
2000s fashion is filled with items of clothing that are both comfortable and cute. It’s my favorite trend, and it has been a huge inspiration for me this semester to dress in cute outfits for class.
