Luxottica Intern: CHANEL Eyewear

For Fashionistas That Love Sunglasses

Intern Outing: Yankee’s Game

Intern Outing: Scavenger Hunt

Last summer I had the opportunity to work for CHANEL eyewear as a marketing intern at Luxottica’s NYC office. The Italian company maintains its European culture even abroad. There were endless intern activities organized by our HR coordinator, and I grew very close to my coworkers and fellow interns in just one summer. Luxottica recruits on campus at BC every year.  I would highly recommend seeking them out if you’re interested in the business of fashion.

Working for the CHANEL team was very rewarding because I was exposed to luxury marketing and the special, close knit relationship our team had with the CHANEL headquarters in NYC. We also had the opportunity to explore other positions within the companies owned by Luxottica, and enjoy lunches with the company’s top Vice Presidents for the North American region. The network I grew during my time with Luxottica, will remain with me forever. I wouldn’t trade last summer’s experience to intern anywhere else.

For Those That Fear Career Fairs

I dreaded these networking events.  They seemed disingenuous and intimidating. As I’m preparing to graduate in only a month, I can say that I have never once attended any of the 8 career fairs that occurred during my time at BC. Regardless, I have found internships. This job in particular, was actually offered to my best friend.  I had no idea what I was going to do last summer, and May was only a few days away. My friend had plans to study in LA and was unable to accept the offer. In turn, knowing my struggles, she referred me and passed the opportunity my way. Given I knew nothing about the company, I researched everything I could and prepared hastily for an expedited interview. A few days later, I had the job and was starting work the following Monday. Moral of the story is: make good friends!  More importantly, don’t stress too much because things work out in the end, but be willing to put in the extra work when it matters!
